CYC Update – May 2023
Here are some updates from the CYC:
CYC Eligibility Rule – Section 6 of the CYC Constitution has been updated. Please be sure to read the entire section highlighted in yellow: https://playcyc.org/rulebooks/. It is important to understand some key points:
- Public school players are now allowed to play for any parish in their grade school boundary. For example, if a player goes to John Smith grade school, and the boundaries of John Smith include St Ann and St Joseph parishes, the player can choose which parish to play for. If the player chooses St Ann, then the player must play for St Ann through eighth grade.
- It is very important for our CYC athletes to register with the correct parish from the start.
- If the player goes to school at St Ann, or is registered with St Ann parish, or lives in the boundaries of St Ann, then he/she must play for St Ann. If St Ann does not have a team in the players grade, then he/she may play for a parish that shares a boundary with St Ann.
Play Like A Champion – Beginning with the fall CYC season, all 5th, 6th and 7th grade coaches must have completed the Play Like A Champion course. The schedule of upcoming classes is here: https://playcyc.org/upcoming-events/play-like-champion-training/. Please do not wait until August. We will schedule classes throughout the summer. If your parish would like to host an in-person class, please let us know. Registration fee is now $30.
District Soccer Coordinators Needed – West County and South Central Districts are in need of District soccer coordinators. This job involves organizing the soccer season and communication with parish soccer coordinators. The job can be done by one person, or several. If these positions are not filled, it will delay or postpone soccer in these Districts. If you are interested, please contact your District Chairman or our office.
Membership Fee Refund – The CYC office will no longer provide refunds for the $5 administrative fee when registering your child for CYC sports.
CYC Cardinal Night – We are sponsoring CYC Night with the Cardinals on Tuesday June 27th, at 6:45pm vs. Houston. To order tickets go to: https://playcyc.org/events/cyc-night-at-busch-stadium/. Order now. These seats will sell out.
Baseball/Softball Playoffs – The CYC Archdiocesan baseball and softball playoffs will take place June 23-30. For more information, go to: https://playcyc.org/upcoming-events/cyc-playoffs/
